Job Description:
The McLean County Center for Human Services (CHS), located at 108 W. Market St., Bloomington, IL., is seeking an Executive Director with experience and vision to lead the organization into a new phase of growth and development as it delivers comprehensive behavioral health services to a diverse population of more than 170,000 residents of McLean County. CHS was established in 1927, is a not-for-profit agency, and seeks to serve those with the greatest behavioral health needs who have the fewest economic resources. The Executive Director is responsible for implementing CHS’s mission, for the administration and management of all programs, and oversees a clinical and support staff of nearly 75 individuals with an approximate $5 million annual budget. CHS serves more than 3,100 distinct clients annually and provides a range of behavioral health services and programs, including outpatient counseling, 24/7 mobile crisis intervention, psychiatry, residential recovery programs, community outreach, and an embedded school program for children and youth. The Executive Director reports to the CHS Board of Directors. Further information about CHS and the Board of Directors is available at www.mcchs.org. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of a master’s degree in a behavioral health-related academic program as well as substantial clinical and behavioral health management experience. Concurrently, this candidate should show evidence of culturally responsive practice with underserved and marginalized individuals, families, and communities. The candidate would demonstrate increasingly successful leadership responsibilities and be committed to a community-oriented behavioral health model. Candidates with relevant doctoral degrees are also encouraged to apply. Specific skills of the desired candidate include culturally grounded leadership and management skills; strategic planning; effective interaction with funding sources and community stakeholders; and well-developed written and verbal communication skills. Grant-writing, third party billing, information technology, strategic communication, fiscal operations, and program evaluation experiences are also desirable. The expected start date is Monday, April 4, 2022. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience. For the successful candidate, residency in McLean County will be required. Candidates should submit a statement of interest and a resume to Searchcommittee@mcchs.org. The Search Committee will begin considering application materials on October 11, 2021. Application materials may be considered until the position is filled. Letters of recommendation may be requested later. CHS is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
