Job Description:
The Special Education Teacher is the case manager of a therapeutic, transition day school for students with disabilities, ages 17 - 22. S/he will develop curriculum, plan daily schedules, develop and implement IEPs, and coordinate with the Social Worker and Teaching Assistants. S/he must be creative and energetic to include both practical lessons and life skills. Low teacher-to-student ratio. The job emphasizes teaching life skills and independence, vocational skills, career development, achieving goals, and community integrated activities. The program focuses on the four components of transition planning: Employment, Training, Education, and Independent Living.
Experience Required:
BA Special Education, Learning Behavior Specialist 1 (LBS1) Endorsement and experience with students in a classroom with Cross Categorical Disabilities. Applicants must be proficient with computers, Microsoft office, electronic IEPs Valid driver’s license, and clean driving record.
